  • Column

Throughout this 12-part series, we will introduce the unique charms of Fukushima Prefecture, the area surrounding Fukushima Airport, and Tamagawa Village.

First, here is an overview of how to get to Fukushima from major cities.

✈Access by Air

From Osaka (Osaka Itami Airport):
The direct flight to Fukushima Airport takes about 1 hour and 5 to 10 minutes.

Overseas (e.g.):
Flights between Fukushima Airport and Taoyuan International Airport take approximately 4 to 4 hours and 15 minutes, depending on conditions and the route.

From Fukushima Airport, you can travel to various locations throughout the prefecture (including Tamagawa Village) by airport bus, JR train, or rental car.

🚄 Access by Train

Directions from Tokyo:
When traveling on the Tohoku Shinkansen, the journey to JR Fukushima Station takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to 45 minutes.
The travel time from Fukushima Station to Tamagawa Village varies depending on the route, but it takes about 30 minutes to an hour by local train or bus.

These travel times show that Fukushima is surprisingly easy to reach, yet it offers a sense of being far removed from Japan’s major cities.
